UPDATE: Police retracts statement on found Dr Allwell Orji's body

ChannelsTV has retracted their earlier statement that the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni confirmed body suspected to be suicide victim Dr Allwell Orji has been recovered by the Marine Police at the Onikan end of the lagoon, three days after the horrific tragedy occurred.

According to the news medium:
The Lagos State Police Command has retracted its statement that the body of Dr. Allwell Orji who jumped into the Lagos lagoon on Sunday evening had been found. The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr Fatai Owoseni had earlier claimed that Orji’s body was found by the Marine Police at the Onikan end of the lagoon.


Until his death, Dr. Orji worked at the Mount Sinai Hospital in Surulere area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria. He was said to be on his way to Victoria Island for a meeting with the Medical 
and Dental Association of Nigeria when he asked his driver to stop the vehicle and he jumped across the bridge and into the water.


The Lagos State Emergency Agency (LASEMA) in a statement said there was a distress call of a man 

who parked his grey coloured Nissan SUV about 4.50 pm around Adekunle and jumped into the Lagos lagoon.

The agency said the vehicle and the driver had been taken to Adeniji Adele Police Station for further investigation.
